The VISX WavePrint System is a diagnostic and treatment approach that lets us take a precise measurement of your eyes like a "fingerprint" of your vision and then provide you with truly personalized vision correction.

In the diagnostic phase, we use a device called the WaveScan™, which makes a WavePrint Map—a detailed, thoroughly personalized map of your vision.

In the treatment phase, the doctor uses information from the WavePrint Map to perform a personalized vision correction, using the VISX 3D ActiveTrak™ laser.

It includes the first commercially available diagnostic device to map the entire optical path of your eye. This provides the doctor with precise and more detailed information about your vision.

The WavePrint System also includes the VISX laser. This laser includes two exclusive features: Variable Spot Scanning* and 3D ActiveTrak technologies, giving the doctor more options to further personalize your treatment.

Variable Spot Scanning* (VSS™) is an exclusive VISX laser technology that allows a larger treatment area to best accommodate your visual needs.

The unique 3D ActiveTrak element means that you no longer have to hold your eye perfectly still, which is a challenge for many patients. Instead, it automatically and instantaneously tracks the minute movements of your eye during the laser treatment.

The WavePrint™ System adds the WavePrint Map, which provides a precise and more detailed analysis of your vision—like a "fingerprint," so to speak. The doctor uses information from the WavePrint Map to plan a personalized treatment for you.

Just like a fingerprint is a unique identifier, or your DNA is unique to you, the WavePrint Map provides a detailed diagram of your vision. Because your WavePrint Map is unique, your doctor can use this information in planning your personalized laser vision correction.

I'm so glad you asked that. No, we don't, because we have something we feel is much better: the VISX® WavePrint System. Other systems don't have the capabilities of the WavePrint System, so we feel this offers the most advanced solution.

You need to discuss these concerns with your doctor, to determine if you are a good candidate. The technology we use provides the doctor with the necessary flexibility in planning your personalized treatment.  Custom LASIK treatments have been shown to minimize night vision problems and improve them in many patients.

FDA clinical study data presented at the 2003 ASCRS Symposium showed that at one year following the procedure, 98% of the clinical study participants could see 20/20 or better UCVA, while nearly 70% had either the same or better post-op UCVA compared to their pre-op BSCVA. A six-month evaluation of the clinical study participants showed that four times as many participants were very satisfied with their night vision after the VISX CustomVue™ procedure, compared to their night vision before with glasses or contacts.  Our results have continued to improve since these studies and with Intralase and custom treatments, the need for refinement is further reduced.

We'll be glad to discuss it further with you when you come in—it's a little complex to go into on the phone. We can show you pictures and a video as well.

You need to come in for a consultation where we will take your WavePrint Map and further determine whether you're a good candidate for laser vision correction. You may also use this opportunity to ask your doctor any questions you may still have.
